THE NAACP 100 YEARS
RENEWING OUR COMMITMENT TO AN ORGANIZATION DEVOTED TO SOCIAL JUSTICE . . . JOIN US!
Now 100 years strong, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is the nation’s oldest, largest and most renowned civil rights organization. Where would you be without the work of this organization and its many civil rights pioneers?
As we celebrate our legacy of social change in the United States, the Johnson County NAACP looks forward to our Annual Freedom Fund event. Our branch will host a brunch on August 15, 2009 at the Overland Park Marriott Hotel, in Overland Park, Kansas.
Our members serve as premier advocates for the work of the NAACP. Each of us must not only renew our commitment to this vital organization, but ensure its viability through membership and financial support. Your contributions continue to underwrite a variety of activities:
- Scholarships for college bound students
- Monitor legislation
- Provide legal redress for housing, employment, and civil rights discrimination complaints
- Offer economic development and law enforcement forums
- Membership growth
- Website development
- Press and publicity for community issues and branch activities
As a member, your financial support provides an opportunity to engage the community concerning matters of economic empowerment, legal redress, civic involvement, healthcare, and education. In honor of our Centennial Anniversary, we ask each member to contribute $100.00 to the Johnson County NAACP. This contribution will include a ticket to the Freedom Fund Brunch and one Freedom Run/Walk registration entry.
The 2009 Freedom Run/Walk, which will be held August 29, 2009, is designed to promote wellness and raise awareness of the work of the oldest civil rights organization. Join us for a 5k run or walk in beautiful Shawnee Mission Park, Shawnee, Kansas.
The Freedom Fund Committee has established the 2009 Levels of Sponsorship and Corporate Sponsor’s Recognition Benefits.
